Our Story

I began as many cake makers do, by creating cakes and bakes for loved ones, and when my eldest son was born, it became more than just a hobby. I built up my baking business (then known as 'Forget Me Not Cakery By Lu') whilst working a full time job. As business picked up, I started baking full time and fell in love with seeing the smiles when people saw their cakes for the first time. I pride myself on detail and perfection, and for me, it's all about the happiness a cake can bring; it's more than sugar and flour, it's a handmade piece of edible art, made just for you!

â€‹â€‹With 12 years experience making bespoke cakes, I decided to reband in 2024 and reopen my cake making business after having my second child. I now have my very own Baking Studio in my back garden, where I design, bake and decorate all my cakes.

After honing my skills to perfection since 2013, I now specialise in show-stopping wedding cakes, and love to transform the finest ingredients into edible masterpieces for your special occasion. Your wedding cake is the centre piece of your special day, so it's important to get it right.

"I believe every couple should have a cake that reflects their personalities and acts as a symbol of their love for one another. Taste is one of the strongest of our senses, a flavor can connect with parts of the brain that are tied to emotion and smell; In other words, we are biologically wired to form strong memories around food!"

Meet Lucy

I have always been creative, with background in art and design, especially fond of model making in college, I knew I wanted to work with my hands.

My Grandma taught me to bake when I was young, I used to look forward to sleepovers at her house because we would always make fairy cakes, flapjack or my favourite - scotch pancakes! As I got older I would experiment with new recipes and enjoyed baking for my family.

As I grew up and had my own family, I learned to perfect my recipes and found I was born to bake! I combined my love of baking with the artistic skills I learned in college, which has lead me to where I am today. â€‹

In 2024 I took on the ultimate challange and made my own wedding cake! We had a Viking themed wedding and I chose navy and burgundy for the cake, decorated in a rustic style with a resin deer skull and hand-made flowers, it was a reflection of mine and my husbands personalities, and was a focal point of the wedding decor!
